Description
Tartrazine is a synthetic food colourant and belongs to the category of azo dyes. It has a lemon yellow colour and is soluble in water. It has been approved for use as a food colourant in the European Union, the United States, Canada and the rest of the world for use in food, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals. It is widely used in foods such as dairy products, beverages, desserts, confectionery, spices, condiments, jellies and sauces. However, it may cause adverse reactions such as ADHD, asthma, rhinitis, urticaria and atopic dermatitis.
