Description
Tadalafil is a selective phosphodiesterase 5 inhibitor used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED), pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), and benign prostatic hypertrophy. The FDA first approved it for the treatment of ED in 2003 and then for the treatment of PAH in 2009. Compared to other PDE5 inhibitors such as sildenafil, tadalafil has a higher selectivity for PDE5 and a longer half-life, making it a more appropriate medication choice for the treatment of PAH.
