PRODUCT INTRODUCTION
description
Abiraterone acetate is a sterol ester obtained by formal condensation of the 3-hydroxy group of abiraterone with the carboxy group of acetic acid. A prodrug that is converted in vivo into abiraterone. Abiraterone acetate is a prescription medication approved for use with prednisone in the treatment of prostate cancer. It belongs to a class of drugs called anti-androgens (anti-testosterone). It works by blocking the production of testosterone, which slows the growth and spread of prostate cancer.
