Description
N, N-Dimethylacetamide (DMAc) is a colourless to yellow liquid with a faint, specific amine-like odour. It is miscible with water and other organic substances. It is a versatile intermediate with various applications, such as solvent. DMAc is used as a solvent for producing fibres and for synthesizing organic compounds, notably pharmaceuticals. Its broad range of miscibility makes it useful in mixed solvents. It is also stable to strong bases but hydrolyzes in the presence of acids.
