PRODUCT INTRODUCTION
Description
Glutaric acid is an intermediate in the catabolic pathways of lysine and tryptophan. Due to a deficiency in glutaric acid dehydrogenase, glutaric acid accumulates in the body, a condition associated with glutaric aciduria type I (GA1), leading to elevated levels of glutaric acid and 3-hydroxyglutaric acid in the urine. It serves as an indicator for glutaric aciduria type I.
