Propylparaben broad-spectrum antibacterial activity, inhibit gram-negative bacteria, gram-positive bacteria, yeast and mold also has the strong inhibitory effect. 3,Propylparaben is a p-hydroxybenzoate derivative. It can be prepared by reacting p-hydroxybenzoic acid  in the presence of an acidic ionic liquid. It crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/c. It has been reported to be an endocrine disrupting compound.
