    Niacinamide nucleoside is a precursor of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) and represents a source of vitamin B3. Recent studies have shown that new health benefits can be derived from ingesting nicotinamide ribosides in greater quantities than those found naturally in foods. Nicotinamide mononucleotide plays an important role in the production of energy in human cells. It is involved in the synthesis of intracellular NAD (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, an important coenzyme for cell energy conversion). Niacinamide riboside has been involved in increasing tissue NAD concentration , as well as enhancing sirtuin function. Its ability to increase NAD production suggests that nicotinamide riboside can also improve mitochondrial health, stimulate mitochondrial function, and induce the production of new mitochondria. Other studies using nicotinamide riboside in Alzheimer's disease models have shown that the molecule is bioavailable to the brain and may provide neuroprotective effects by stimulating NAD synthesis in the brain. In addition, the 2012 study observed that mice fed a high-fat diet supplemented with niacinamide riboside gained 60 percent less weight than mice fed the same high-fat diet without it. Niacinamide nucleoside chloride (3-aminoformyl-1 -[(2R, 3R, 4S5R))-3, 4-dihydroxy-5 -(hydroxymethyl) oxacyclopentane-2-yl] -pyridine-1-onium chloride; Also known as 1-(β-D-furanribosyl) niacinamide chloride is a known salt form of niacinamide riboside that generally requires improvement, despite the presence of useful properties of niacinamide riboside and its chloride salts (for example, in pharmaceutical or nutritional supplements).
