Wurticetine hydrobromide is a novel bisarylthiolylamine antidepressant jointly developed by Takeda Of Japan and Ring-North of Denmark for the treatment of depression and anxiety. In September 2013, it was approved for marketing by the US FDA under the trade name Brintellix for the treatment of adult major depression. In October of the same year, the application for marketing authorization of Wurticetine (MAA) was made ) received a positive opinion from the European Medicines Agency's (EMA) Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP), which recommended approval of Brintellix for the treatment of adults with major depressive disorder (MDD)
