Tartrate metoprolol without endogenous to the sympathetic activity is a kind of heart selective beta 1 receptor blockers, used for the treatment of patients with heart failure, by blocking juxtaglomerular cell beta 1 receptor and restrain excessive activation of the renin - angiotensin - aldosterone system, expand peripheral blood vessels, reducing sodium retention, reduce the load before and after and prevent ventricular remodeling of the heart. Metoprolol tartrate improves cardiac function by reducing over-elevated sympathetic nervous system excitability, regulating abnormal changes in myocardial β receptors, and by improving left ventricular diastolic function, slowing heart rate, improving cardiac diastolic function, and preventing or reversing ventricular remodeling. Tartrate metoprolol is weaker membrane stability, not intrinsic to the sympathetic activity, compared with similar clinical commonly used drug propranolol in addition to its pharmacodynamics possesses the advantages of beta 1 receptor blockers on the outside, also has its pharmacokinetic of advantages, such as the first effect weak, propranolol simple metabolic pathways in the body, most of the metabolites no pharmacological activities, etc.
