Desloratadine is a second generation of tricyclic antihistamine. It is a H1-receptor antagonist which has anti-inflammatory activity. Its affinity to the H1 receptor is higher than most other H1-receptor antagonists. Desloratadine works by blocking a certain natural substance (histamine) which is produced during an allergic reaction. Desloratidine has a long-lasting effect and does not cause drowsiness because it does not readily enter the central nervous system. Desloratadine is used to treat nasal and non-nasal symptoms (watery eyes, runny nose, itching eyes/nose, sneezing, and itching) of seasonal allergic rhinitis. It is also used to relieve chronic itching caused by hives.

1.Strong anti-allergic effect Desloratadine is highly selective in binding to the H1 receptor. Among the known

antihistamines, desloratadine has the strongest binding ability to the H1 receptor and has significant anti-H1 receptor effect.
2.Loratadine itself is active, well absorbed and has an effective time of less than 30min.The maximum plasma concentration was reached about 3h after oral administration, and the Cmax was 3.98ng·mL-1 and the clearance rate was 114 ~ 201L·h-1 at single dose.
Application
Desloratadine comes as a tablet, oral solution (liquid), and an orally disintegrating tablet to take bymouth. It is usually taken once a day with or without food. Follow the directions on your prescriptionlabel carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Takedesloratadine exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed byyour doctor.To take the orally disintegrating tablet, use dry hands to peel back the foil packaging. Immediately takeut the tablet and place it on your tongue. The tablet will quickly dissolve and can be swallowed withsaliva. Orally disintegrating tablets may be taken with or without water.
