Guaiacol nature:
White or yellowish crystal or colorless to yellowish transparent oily liquid. It has a special aromatic smell. Slightly soluble in water and benzene. Soluble in glycerol. It is miscible with ethanol, ether, chloroform, oil and glacial acetic acid.
Guaiacol application：
Guaiacol is widely used in industry. Guaiacol is often used to produce various spices, such as eugenol, vanillin and artificial musk. Guaiacol is also widely used in medicine. It can be used to synthesize guaiacol benzenesulfonate (potassium guaiacol sulfonate), as a local anesthetic or preservative, expectorant and treatment of dyspepsia. Because of its reducibility, it is often used as an antioxidant in cosmetics, together with synergist and metal ion chelating agent. Guaiacol is also used as a dye because it reacts with oxygen to produce a dark color. Guaiacol is also used as a raw material for organic synthesis and a reference material for analytical determination.
