Sodium hydroxymethanesulphinate nature:
Translucent white orthorhombic crystals or small pieces. The apparent density was 1.80-1.85g/cm3. Soluble in water, slightly soluble in alcohol. It has strong reducibility at high temperature and can make the dyed color disappear, so it has the name of white block. It decomposes in the presence of acid and produces formaldehyde, hydrogen sulfide and other toxic gases at 120 ℃. The anhydrous suspension is very stable, but it will gradually decompose in humid air. The aqueous solution begins to decompose above 60 ℃, and the dilute solution decomposes much faster than the concentrated solution.
Sodium hydroxymethanesulphinate application:
Printing and dyeing industry is used as discharge agent and reducing agent to produce indigo dyes and vat dyes. It is also used in the synthesis of rubber, sugar and polymerization of ethylene compounds.
