Methanol nature：
Methanol, also known as "xylol", is an organic compound and the most simple saturated monohydric alcohol. The appearance is colorless, transparent, flammable and volatile toxic liquid. Drinking 5-10 ml by mistake can lead to blindness. Drinking a large amount of it can lead to death.
Methanol application:
Methanol is easy to react with sulfuric acid and carbonic acid, but difficult to react with hydrochloric acid at 0 ℃; Methyl ether ch3-o-ch3 can be formed by dehydration of methanol in the presence of sulfuric acid, metaphosphoric acid or boron trioxide at 160 ℃. Methanol vapor can also dehydrate to form ether through alumina and thorium oxide (the temperature is 200 ℃ and 400 ℃). Methanol can be used as solvent, metal halides and organic acid salts are more or less soluble in methanol, sulfate has little solubility, carbonate is completely insoluble in methanol. Methanol is also the raw material of formaldehyde, formic acid and inorganic or organic acid esters
