Tetrahydrofuran

THF (tetrahydrofuran) a colorless organic liquid that is miscible with water and has a small viscosity at room temperature and pressure. The chemical formula for this circular ether is written as (CH2)4O. Because of its long liquid range, it is a common medium polar aprotic solvent. Its main use is as a polymer precursor. Although THF is similar in odor and chemistry to diethyl ether, the anesthetic effect is poor.

This product is an organic solvent with excellent properties. It has been widely used due to its fast dissolution rate and good permeability and diffusion on the surface and inside of the resin. It is used as solvent in format reaction, polymerization reaction, LiAlH4 reduction condensation reaction and esterification reaction. The dissolution of POLYvinyl chloride, pvC-VINylidene chloride and its copolymers yields a solution of low viscosity, which is often used in the manufacture of surface coatings, protective coatings, adhesives and films. Also used in ink, paint remover, extraction agent, artificial leather surface treatment and so on. This product is self-polymerization and copolymerization, can produce polyether type polyurethane elastomer, its characteristics is high resilience. This product is an important chemical raw material, can be prepared butadiene, polyvinylpyrrolidone, polybutanediol ether, -butylactone, polyvinylpyrrolidone, tetrahydrothiophene, etc. This product is also an intermediate in the organic synthesis of drugs. Tetrahydrofuran is a kind of important organic synthetic raw material and solvent, tetrahydrofuran for many organic compounds have good solubility, it can dissolve all except polyethylene, polypropylene and fluorine resin organic compound, especially for polyvinyl chloride (PVC), poly (vinylidene chloride and butyl aniline have good solution, is widely used as reaction solvent. As a common solvent, tetrahydrofuran has been widely used in surface coatings, protective coatings, inks, extractants and artificial leather surface treatment. Tetrahydrofuran is an important raw material for the production of polytetramethylene ether diol (PTMEEG) and is also a major solvent in the pharmaceutical industry. Used as a solvent for natural and synthetic resins (especially vinyl resins), and also for the production of butadiene, adiponitrile, adipic acid, adiamine, etc. Used as solvent, intermediate in chemical synthesis and analytical reagent.
