Pharmacological action

Azamide is a diuretic that acts on the medullary sputum, and its effect is similar to furosemide, but the antihypertensive effect is weak and the antidiuretic effect is stronger.

Pharmacokinetics

The absorption of azamide is poor after oral administration, and the bioavailability is only 10%, which is significantly less than other medullary diuretics. When azimutamide is used for diuresis, it takes effect 1 hour after oral administration, reaches the maximum effect at 2 to 4 hours, reaches the maximum blood concentration at 3 hours, and lasts for 9 hours after a single administration. Azolamide is mainly metabolized in the liver. Oral administration is only 2%, while intravenous injection of 20% of the original drug is excreted in the urine. Whether it is excreted through milk is not clear. The overall clearance rate of azamide is 5.4 L per hour, and the elimination half-life after oral and intravenous injection is 2 to 2.5 h, which is slightly longer than other sulfa-based medullary diuretics.
