Magnesium stearate is a white fine powder with no sand; it has a slight odor; it has a slippery feel when it comes into contact with the skin. This product is insoluble in water, ethanol or ether, and is mainly used as a lubricant, anti-adhesive agent and glidant. It is especially suitable for granulation of oils and extracts, and the prepared granules have good fluidity and compressibility. Used as a flow aid in direct compression. It can also be used as a filter aid, a clarifying agent and a foaming agent, as well as a suspending agent and a thickening agent for liquid preparations.
