Pharmacology: Irinotecan is a semi-synthetic derivatives of camptothecin which can be specifically combined with the topoisomerase I. Topoisomerase I induced reversible single-strand breaks, so that double-stranded structure of DNA unwinded. Irinotecan and its active metabolite SN-38 with topoisomerase I-DNA complex binding, thereby preventing the fractured single-stranded nucleic acid to be connected. Existing research suggests that irinotecan cytotoxicity due to DNA synthesis process. Replicase and a topoisomerase I-DNA irinotecan (or SN-38) triple complex interactions, causing DNA double-strand breaks. Mammalian cells can not efficiently repair the DNA double-strand breaks


Function
1 Irinotecan Hydrochloride (CPT-11) is an intravenous antineoplastic agent. Irinotecan Hydrochloride is a potent anticancer drug with activity in a broad range of experimental tumor models. Irinotecan Hydrochloride is one of many water-soluble derivatives of camptothecin (CPT), a cytotoxic plant alkaloid isolated from the Chinese tree Camptotheca acuminate. Irinotecan Hydrochloride has activity in colorectal cancer similar to 5-fluorouracil and appears to be partially non-crossresistant.
2 This product is antineoplastic. It is the first medicine that is used for treating the metastatic colon rectum cancer; it also has very good effects to non- small-cell carcinoma of the lung and small-cell carcinoma of the lung.
