PRODUCT INTRODUCTION
Description
Sodium Carbonate is the disodium salt of carbonic acid with alkalinizing properties. Sodium carbonate, or soda ash, Na2CO3, is widely distributed in nature, occurring as constituents of mineral waters and as the solid minerals natron, trona, and thermonatrite. Large quantities of this alkaline salt are used in making glass, detergents, and cleansers. When dissolved in water, sodium carbonate forms carbonic acid and sodium hydroxide. As a strong base, sodium hydroxide neutralizes gastric acid, acting as an antacid.
