CHEMICAL AND PHYSICAL PROPERTIES

Physical Description Bendiocarb is a white solid. Melting point 265 °F (129-130 °C). Insoluble in water. Used as a contact insecticide.
Color/Form White powder
Odor Odorless
Melting Point 129.6 °C
Solubility In water, 260 mg/L at 25 °C
Density 1.25 g/cu cm at 20 °C
Vapor Density 1.25
Vapor Pressure 0.0000345 [mmHg]
LogP log Kow = 1.70
Stability/Shelf Life Formulated material (80%) is stable at temperatures below 40 °C. In aqueous solution at 25 °C the half-life is 48 days at ph 5; 81 hours at ph 7; and 45 minutes at ph 9. Under ph 5 bendiocarb slowly degrades to pyrogallol and acetone. On non-absorptive surfaces and at low humidity it resists oxidation. It undergoes photo-oxidation in direct sunlight.
Decomposition When heated to decomposition it emits toxic fumes of /nitrogen oxides/.
Corrosivity Lack of corrosive properties
Heat of Vaporization 318 J/g at 25 °C
pH Very weak acid
